The fellas sure gave their hearts for Mother’s Day. Jaron refinished a pair of old wooden chairs that were Jon & mine. (oh the tears receiving that gift). Sometimes the stitches that sew our lives together are ones of heartache and tragedy, but it can render a beautiful tapestry. This photo, from my book launch in 2018, captures a deeply meaningful moment when I met this father whose son pulled my burning body from fire 30 years earlier. I learned this week of his passing. Clarence Ruby had the sweetest spirit and he raised some courageously heroic sons. I’m so grateful to have had the gift of time to finally meet him and say “Thank you.” Please pray for comfort and peace over his wife and sons.
